Gym stuff
I've been going to the gym for a while now. I just feel that since I am posting a lot of other stuff, I might as well post this as well. Maybe give me more motivation to work harder. Maybe get some advice from other people who happen to stumble onto this.
I need to eat more though. I am trying to gain weight but I am probably only getting 2000 calories or less a day. The problem is that the last time I tried to bulk up (I was drinking a lot of Isopure Mass which was amazing) I hit 175 and was big, but also kinda fattish. I guess I am going to try again to hit 180 (I am normally 165 and am presently 170) but I think this time should work better. I am changing up my routine; I has a weekly routine that I kept for about 8+ months. I hvave been taking fish/flax oils. I am doing everything I can to do things right. I just need to hope for the best and keep trying.
I think what I'll do is take a picture of myself every week so I can monitor my humiliation or progress. Post it here so that if I fail, anyone who cares can know it. So here's the first one. This is from about 2 weeks ago.
The real difficulty is figuring out how to go about it. I read about two or three articles a day and they almost ALL CONTRADICT each other on every aspect. I got my personal trainer certification last January and haven't started looking for a job yet because I am still horribly unsure of how to go about things. If I can't even get myself to where I want to be, how can I in good conscience try to teach someone else?
Which is better: Full-Body workouts or Split Routines?
Strict low-carb diet or not?
Is cardio necessary?
There are so many aspects of training with which I get such horribly mixed advice. The thing is that I started weight lifting so that I might actually have control over some aspect of my life and it really doesn't feel as though I can accurately control this

Plays today
I just got in my Amazon order and started going through a few of them.
The Flu Season - Will Eno
Waiting for Lefty - Clifford Odetts
I definitely need to look back into them. In short: Flu Season: really fucked up and confusing, mike Eno's work often is; Lefty: very good, but very short piece.
I want to write a more in depth review, maybe after I read them again

let me tell you about the stupid thing I almost did
More stuff nobody's gonna read. Oh well, I guess it's like a diary, er um... I mean journal... diaries are for girls, and I am a man, I keep a journal... (nice save Phil!) it's like a journal except I don't really care if anyone reads it, actually I want people to, for some reason or another.
So kinda going off of my last thing about the site that I was 'clever' enough to figure out.
I guess it's one of those 'take a victory where you can get it however small or insignificant it may be' sort of thing.
My father, once he started really getting into e-mailing, would go crazy with the spam mail and how proud he was of not falling prey to it. Sort of a "yeah, I'm not giving away my bank account number to some Nigerian, I'm too smart for that!" He would once or twice a day talk about his exploits in not falling for an e-mail scam. Saying how he was going to send them an e-mail and mess with the scammers and really try to get them good. I would try to tell him, "Dad, it's automated and if you go and send them an e-mail, they'll know your address is real and if anything they will spam your inbox even more.
That's kinda how I felt with the survey thing. "I'm too smart to fall prey to this scam"... minor victory, and I learned a bit of JavaScript in the process (optimism!)
However, have you ever had a moment in which you are about to do something relatively stupid, but you save yourself from doing it; but then you decide to tell the person the thing you didn't actually do? er...
So after doing a performance (UpRush) I was walking around saying hi to everyone and Paul was there and he was wearing a sweatshirt with a really cool design on it and I immediately assumed it was a band or something and I was going to ask who they were because I am always in search of new music (which if you have suggestions, please send them my way) but as I was about to say something I realized... Element, the 'band' on the shirt, is a clothing company. (I never said I was smart)
And so after saving myself from making a truly idiotic comment, I decided to tall Paul about the comment I was about to make, but didn't; but I was making this comment about the comment and how I am really not an idiot because I didn't actually say that thing and by saying this I am actuallly showing how much smarter I am now than I would have seemed had I said...... yeah
I doubt I am the only one who does that
I don't know, it was just a funny/stupid story... at least I thought so...
SO BORED

SO BORED
survey-for-cash sites (am I dumb for doing this?)
So yes, like I said I am bored out of my skull. I was looking at my facebook (which I do obsessively lately, looking for friends to chat up and do something) and there was this ad for 'did you like the movie memento?' and some sort of survey so I clicked it and checked it out. 5 questions:
1) who was your favorite character: [teddy] because Joe Pantoliano is always amazing.
2) how many times have you seen the movie: [4] I think. One of my most watched movies, perhaps second only to The Professional.
3) Did you like it better than The Shining?: [yes] only because I have only seen the TV edited versions anyway.
4) do you think it is appropriate for children under 13: [no] ... watch the movie...
That may have been it, then I clicked the link and it asked me for information to receive $10 - $20
for taking the survey from some site called survey4money or something like that.
Rather than immediately giving my information, I opened up a few new windows and looked up the site on Google to see if it was legit. I got back a lot of red flags so I just shut the window and said screw it.
But then I got to thinking: Are there any legit sites out there?
I am bored, I am not working nearly as much as I'd like to , what if one of those survey sites are real and I can make a couple of buck on the side that is time-consuming (because right now all my time is good for is consuming).
I found a few general 'review survey sites' sites. They seemed pretty okay and they all mentioned one site, www.PaidSurveysEtc.com as being pretty good. I am always extremely skeptical so I looked at more places. Scammer-alert also seemed okay as well, looking at several types of scam sites. I was about to give it a try. The site required a membership fee, however. 34.99, one-time which was half-off their normal fee with a coupon code! holy crap! That's what set me off though. I remeber seeing the coupon code in one of the previous sites I looked at (can't find it again) and it was published last February. PaidSurveys was saying that the coupon was reinstated three days ago and was expiring three days from then (today, wouldn't you know it!)
so I looked at the source code of the site not expecting really find anything; I only took an intro computer programming and and intro to HTML in high school and that was about 8 years ago (God I feel old). But it happen to stumble onto something.
every instance of of the dat 3 days ago was shown as:
this does what you expect it to do, find today's date, set it to 3 days ago and make it so it can be printed wherever it need to be.
Anyone who knows about HTML writing and such would be able to find this stuff pretty simply, I just thought it was a somewhat cool discovery for me.
I guess I made this post in the hopes that someone looking up the site will find this and they won't get scammed.
Now I need a better idea of what to do with my summer....

<script language="javascript">
var montharray=new Array("January","February","March","April","May","June","July","August","September","October","November","December")
var todayDate=new Date();
todayDate.setDate(todayDate.getDate()-3) ;
//alert(todayDate);
var vyear=todayDate.getYear();
if (vyear <>
var vday=todayDate.getDate();
if (vday<10) vday="0">
var vmonth=todayDate.getMonth();
vStr = montharray[vmonth] + ' ' + vday + ', ' + vyear;

Now I need a better idea of what to do with my summer....
hello (ain't I original?)
So I've been in Summer for all of two weeks, (three maybe, I don' t know anymore, it all runs together) and I honestly have no idea what to do. It has been a roller coaster in the first week or so.
Work (Sylvan Learning Center) was scheduling me a lot because I got out of school and my availability was high and I liked the hours. I also got coaxed into doing Twelfth Night in Middletown (which I love theater and such but I really don't want to go 20 miles each way with gas what it is). Also, So of my friends were going to be putting up True West in a matter of two weeks in which I had a role; it was relatively small but still required a lot of work in a short period of time. I had these three things simultaneously and they were all happening at night on the weekdays. It was not so much 'how am I going to do this?' because I knew I couldn't; It was more of a 'Who am I going to have to let down in favor of whom?'
Then in a matter of two days later I found out that the students at Sylvan weren't going to be coming in nearly as much, so my 20 - 30 hours a week was being cut down to about 6 - 8, True West has been postponed indefinately because of of the short period we were going to have. The middletown thing is still the same, but it was only 1-2 days a week anyway.
So that leave me at now. I am bored out of my skull and... yeah. That's about it. I am trying to make the best of my time by reading scripts. My goal is to read one a week Which I am currently making good on. I am waiting for my Amazon.com order to come in, I have about 10 more scripts coming in there to keep me occupied.
So yeah... hooray for me!
